Test Your Device and Connection

Your screen may differ from the screenshots below, however the dashboard and functionality will be the same

 'test' = either the 'Pre-Call Test' or 'Test Your Connection' feature

The test is a brief (approximately 1 minute) check of your device's:  

  • Connectivity to internet and servers
  • Camera (availability & quality)
  • Microphone (availability & quality)
  • Internet Browser
  • Bitrate Statistics *
  • Proxy Servers *

It is advisable to perform one of these tests each time you use Lumeca Health to ensure everything is working properly on your device.  This is especially important if you have had any changes in your technical equipment or internet service.

Test Your Connection

Step 1:  Using the same device you are using to attend your video meeting, open the email or SMS text message and click the 'https://...' meeting link sent to you.

Step 2 - You may next see the following screen.  If you do not see this screen, skip to 'Step 3' below.  If you see this screen, choose either:

  • Continue on Web, OR
  • Tap either Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download the Lumeca Health APP onto your mobile device.  This step is optional.

Step 3 - Whenever prompted for permission for your camera and microphone, click Allow for both.  Note:  Your prompt may look different than this screenshot, depending on your device however, you must still Allow or Enable your camera and microphone here.

          

Step 4 -The Join Meeting screen  - you are not yet in the video meeting:

Using a Mobile Device on the APP:

  • Tap Test Audio and Video.

Using a Mobile Device on the WEB:

  • Tap Test Your Connection.

Using a Laptop/Desktop on the WEB:

  • Test Tap Test Your Connection.

Step 5 - Review the screen, making sure that:

  • You are connected to the internet
  • Your camera and microphone are connected
  • You have allowed access to your microphone and camera
  • No other apps on your device are currently using the camera or microphone

When ready, click Start Test.

Step 6 - Set your device on a stable surface and speak during the test, to ensure proper camera and microphone testing.

Step 7 - If you are prompted anywhere on the screen for camera and microphone permission, press Allow.  Note:  Your prompt may look different than this screenshot, depending on your device however, you must still Allow or Enable your camera and microphone here.

The test will take approximately 1 minute, then will time out automatically.

Test results will appear on your screen.  See section The Test Results.

 

The Pre-Call Test

Step 1 - Log into your account. 

Step 2 - Navigate to the Pre-Call Test screen.

Using a Mobile Device on the APP:

  • Tap Menu along the bottom of the screen, then select Pre-Call Test.

Using a Mobile Device on the WEB:

  • Tap the 3 lines at the top-left, then select Account > Pre-Call Test.

Using a Laptop/Desktop on the WEB:

  • Tap Account along the left navigation bar, then select Pre-Call Test.

Step 3 - Review the screen, making sure that:

  • You are connected to the internet
  • Your camera and microphone are connected
  • You have allowed access to your microphone and camera
  • No other apps on your device are currently using the camera or microphone

When ready, click Start Test.

Step 4 - Set your device on a stable surface and speak during the test, to ensure proper camera and microphone testing.

The Test Results

Test results will appear on your screen.  It is important that you receive checkmarks in the left column of the test results.

Bitrate

   The amount of video data transmitted (a higher bitrate usually translates to better quality)

Round Trip Time

   The time it takes for data packets to complete a round trip from source to destination and back, so basically the efficiency and reliability of your network connection

Packet Loss

   Incomplete or delayed data transmission
Definition of other test result terms:

 

  • Make sure other applications on your laptop/computer are not using your camera or microphone or they are closed
  • Double-check your internet connection, as slow internet speeds can affect the quality of your video session
  • If possible, use an ethernet or wired connection instead of wireless
  • If you are using an external camera/microphone, make sure they are plugged in and set as a system default.  You may have to plug into an alternate USB port for the connection to be successful.
